Evaluation 3 - audience feedback

Below you can see some facebook messages which I collected off Facebook: 

Apart from positive and ''things I could improve on comments'' I received over Facebook I also made a quick video with the people in my class. It was very effective using students mainly due to the fact that they are between the age of 17/18 so classified as young adults which is the target audience I am looking at. This is the same on my Facebook the 3 friends that replied to my message asking for audience feedback are the perfect audience for my video this makes my feedback very reliable.

7 - Final Advert

This is my final advert, I took the advice of my audience research-

•  Most of the people I asked said that the advert needed more information on it so instead of just having the album release I now also have "9 newly released tracks" "QR code available" "1 hidden track never seen before" and "available on itunes" this gives the person looking at the poster more of an insight.
• I have kept the picture simple and have kept it black and white against sofias views on this during my audience research due to the fact the this fits in with my genre if you look at most of Aviciis promotional advert most are very simple and stick with one colour theme
• I made '' 1st of march'' capital to make it stand out like Niona said during my audience research
• A lot of people gave me comments about making certain fonts bigger however instead of making it bigger I put a black background behind it because It makes it stand out and gives it a more professional look to it.

This is my mock up, I have added a QR code and the picture is very similar to that of my Digipak to create a similar vibe throughout all the promotion of 'wake me up'. I will now ask a couple of young adults (my target group) about what they think of this poster and with their constructive feedback I will change and adapt the poster to create a perfect version.

3 - How important is the print advert to the promotion of artist

The print advert is very important to the promotion of the artist but mainly the music, It tells the audience members the importance such as the title, release date, the look of the album, track etc - making it easier for them as they know when and where they can purchase the album. The print advert is the first thing people see so is extremely important to make people exited for the album/single to come out. The is one of the main ways to know about the new release so print adverts have to be put together and placed very carefully according to the target group of the artist. Its through the print advert that people decide to listen to the single/album that has been produced and then decide to buy it so the quality of the print advert needs to be extremely high to create a well sold song on CD and even off i-tunes.

I decided to remake an adele advert for one of her most famous songs rolling in the deep. This task was very challenging because you need to get the right font and contrast of colours but I enjoyed using photoshop as apart from creating my digipak I had never used photoshop before.

After taking my audience feedback into consideration I had another look at my digipak and improved it by alot.

• I added a booklet about the filming of the music video on one side and a QR code to the actual music video.
•  I used the correct font which makes the digipak title look very bold and easy to spot. I took out some pictures and left the 4 main pictures in.
• I put Tim Berglings name on the side he is Avicii so that when the digipak is standing up in a pile of CDS its easy to spot that this is the CD you are looking for . 
• I added information about avicii being the 6th best DJ in the world on the bottom left pannel this gives the customer more insighton avicii and proves that he is a good artist so when looking at the back of the digipak in the shop this will catch you attention and is a unique selling point.

9 - Audience Feedback

This picture shows some of my friends telling me what was good and bad about my mok up. the main topics that came up were:

Positives:

• They liked my use of pictures and though that made it look very happy and professional  

Negatives:

• Change the fact that it is hard to spot and read my title due to the use of white so i will change that to changing the font to something bolder, easily spottable and a font that matches the band avicii and the song the make it stand out more. 
• I will add a booklet into my right side of the digipak where I will talk about the making off the music video of wake me up tjis will add value to the digipak and give the customers more information of the storyline and the beautiful destination where it was filmed.
• I will also add a QR code on the left panel so that the customers have direct access to the music video of wake me up. This will make the access easy and smooth and look fun.
• one of my friends said that my digipak was very simple and that there were too many pictures so that made me take out 2 pictures and for the writing of the content of the cd i will leave this pictureless sothat it is easier to read and also i will leave the actual CD side black. This will mean that people arent overwelmed by the amount of pictures and its kept simple but at the same time very profesional looking aswell.

8 - Mock up of digipak

Here is a mock up of my digi pak, These are mostly still shots of my video i think this works really well because the whole vibe comes together. The story line of the 2 sisters are shown of them having fun throwing around power paint and the fact that the hard times they have to go through together when they are looking into the gloomy grey clouds and life is not looking too good. I will be posting my final digipak soon.

I had to change some of the pictures due to being unable to find the actual ones but I would say they looked very similar.

Task 1- How musicians promote themselves

Tim Betglin or better known as avicii promotes him self in many different ways, This next picture is the promotional picture for my song wake me up:

  This is a very simple cover the main colour being brown and the writing very simple, i really like this promotional picture just because of the simplistic aspects of it and the avicii symbol being placed on the bottom very subtly, you know this is a avicii album within the very first glance.

 This is another poster picture and as you can see a trend appearing within his covers Tim Betglin being the main and only person in this cover he does this to promote himself and avicii, Also the covers are usually based on 1 colour this being black and white and the previous one being brown. The same as the previous one the avicii symbol has subtly been put on the bottom. The font and the writing is very effective due to the size and the font matching the artist genre.  

Task 4 - Star Image

General Star Image:

• If the artist is just showing himself and being the sole focus, this means they will be trying to advertise themselves more significantly
• The name needs to be easily recognizable and if very important for the audience to spot that this is their band so a font that is continuously being used in every album, poster, digipak etc. 
• The cover needs to be bright and if its a happy song a happy cover with many different bright colours if its a more inspirational song then more neutral colours should be used however this all depends of the theme and genre of the song.
• The digipak should flow it should all fit together, so a theme that can be found throughout the whole digpak, the same font and color is very important to make the whole digipak look professional.  
• To continue the profesional look all pictures and art need to look of high quality to give it the high quality look

My digipak:

• The theme needs to reflect the colours of the powder paint in my video, however at the same time the grey skies and the cold feeling of the beach 
• The 2 sisters on the front cover 
• The text needs to be bold and flashy

Task 2 - Font test

As you can see Avicii uses a very robotic style of font in their posters and this would be the same in the digipack. I have done a couple of testers:

My choice is the bottom right because I feel it is bold, stand out and still has the robotic feel that matches with the genre of the song.

Filming

Over the past weeks I have been filming and editing. This process is harder and taking a lot longer than I had expected.
I realized that getting my cast together at the right time when there was perfect lighting was very hard and due to travels Alan and Elita were unable to be in my video so I have had to replace these characters with Katelyn and Fabian.

Fabian: Is an a level drama student and has a lot of experience of being in large drama production like Grease. He is perfect for this part as he has a strong dancing connection with Alice and has the style what I was looking for

   

Katelyn: Is perfect for this part with her blond hair. her role is to be Alice Dymovas little sister and she portrays this perfectly. She is a very good dance and she might not be taking GCSE drama but she fits the role and is very good at the part she plays.

 For the rest the other parts have been going fine, sometimes as I go along I change the planned shot angles due to lighting. I will be uploading my first draft soon.
